Op. Dr. İbrahim Alataş graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1989-1995 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. He worked in the Department of Neurosurgery at Vakıf Gureba Research and Training Hospital in Istanbul from 1999 to 2005. His education and specialization were completed in 1989–1995 at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, and in 1999–2005 at the Department of Neurosurgery, Vakıf Gureba Research and Training Hospital.
He worked as a Specialist Doctor at Avicenna Hospital in Istanbul from 2008 to 2009, at Taksim Hospital in Istanbul from 2009 to 2010, and at Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Hospital in Istanbul from 2010 to 2013. Between 2013 and 2020, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Neurosurgery at Florence Nightingale Science University and Istanbul Bilim University.
Foreign Experience:
- 2013-2015: Minimal Invasive Fetal Surgery Training for Spina Bifida at the German Fetal Surgery and Minimal Invasive Surgery Center (DZFT), Giessen University Hospital, Giessen, Germany.
- 2015-2016: Fetal Surgery Training for Spina Bifida at Zurich University, Switzerland.
- 2016-2017: Fetal Surgery Training for Spina Bifida at Katowice University, Poland.
- In 2014, he conducted research on the frequency of spinal anomalies and deformities in children aged 0-18 months who underwent primary repair due to myelomeningocele, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Mazhar Osman in the field of Mental Health.
- In 2017, he researched the relationship between lower extremity muscle strength, mobility, functional walking levels, and quality of life in lumbosacral Spina Bifida cases at the Neurological Diseases Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul Medipol University Health Sciences Institute.
He worked at Başkent University Hospital in 2021-2022 and has been working in the Department of Neurosurgery at Medicalpark Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital of Istinye University since 2024. The open and fetoscopic fetal surgery techniques applied to Spina Bifida are only practiced at the Fetal Surgery and Spina Bifida Unit of Medicalpark Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital of Istinye University in Turkey.
2022 – Best Presentation Award at the 39th National Pediatric Surgery Congress, 12th National Pediatric Urology Congress, and 25th National Pediatric Surgery Nursing Congress. November 2-5, 2022. The relationship between low bladder compliance and urinary fibrosis markers in patients with spina bifida.
2016 – Best Poster Award at the Turkish Orthopedic Surgery Association Scientific Congress. “Surgical treatment of knee flexion contracture in ambulatory patients with meningomyelocele: Mid-term outcomes.”
2016 – Best Poster Award at the Turkish Pediatric Surgery Association Scientific Congress. “Prevalence and risk factors of inguinoscrotal pathologies in patients with spina bifida.”
