What is Tethered Cord?

Tethered Cord, also known as “Tight Spinal Cord,” is a condition where the lower end of the spinal cord, which typically ends at the L1 level in most individuals, ends at lower levels such as L4-L5 or the sacral region in tethered cord patients, causing adhesions as a result.

This adhesion, due to the growth of the body in later years, primarily leads to a decline in leg movements, loss of balance while walking, quick fatigue, pain in the legs and groin, difficulty in walking, clumsiness, and falling while walking. Additionally, symptoms may include urinary incontinence, inability to control bowel movements, or difficulty urinating and having bowel movements.
